The Placental Transmission of Creatinine

چکیده
Some time ago, in a preliminary communication1 dealing with various aspects of the distribution of creatinine and creatine in blood, we reported that the concentration of each of these substances was nearly the same, at) parturition, in the placental as in the maternal plasma, and we concluded that there takes place between the mother and the fetus a ready interchange of both. If we have hesitated hitherto to publish any fuller account of these observations, it is chiefly because of the necessity under which we found ourselves of first testing rather thoroughly the validity of the analytical methods used.2 In the meantime our results have been confirmed by the independent observations of Plass.3s4

The impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on fetal brain development
The development of the brain as the most complex structure of the human body is a long process that begins in the third week of pregnancy and continues until adulthood and even until the end of life (1). Human brain myelination begins one to two months before birth in the visual system and eventually lasts until the age of two in other sensory systems and then the motor systems (4). Processes a...
متن کاملEarly plasma creatinine values in discordant twins.
It has been suggested that impairment of placental perfusion prior to delivery may manifest in early postnatal increase of creatinine values. We hypothesized that the smaller of a discordant set of twins would have a higher initial plasma creatinine value and decided to measure early plasma creatinine levels in discordant twins in order to evaluate whether this value may serve as an index of im...
متن کاملEstablishment of ApoE-knockout mouse model of preeclampsia and relevant mechanisms
In the present study, we established an ApoE-knockout mouse model of preeclampsia to examine the role of vascular endothelial injury associated with abnormal lipid metabolism in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. To establish the ApoE-knockout homozygous (ApoE-/-) and heterozygous (ApoE+/-) mouse model, mice were mated with the same genotype and orbital blood on day 19 of conception was collecte...
متن کاملBirth Defect Amelioration and Placental Cytokine Expression in Mnu-exposed Dams Treated with Ifn-γ
BACKGROUND: Methylnitrosourea (MNU), an alkylating agent derived from creatinine metabolism, is cytotoxic, genotoxic, and mutagenic. Mid-gestational exposure to MNU leads to distal limb defects in mice. Previous studies have shown that nonspecific maternal immune stimulation protects against MNU-induced teratogenesis. A role for immune-mediated placental improvement in this effect remains uncer...
متن کاملA study of the kinds of placental collegens from Iranian women to determine the standard rate of placental collagen
Background: Alteration in polymorphism of tissue collagens has been reported in association with some genetic and metabolic disorders. These alterations can be estimated quantitatively by measuring alpha-chain monomers derived from the polymeric form of collagens following treatment with sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). We studied the rate of placental colla...
